Really a quick tour to Bandar Diraja Kuala Kangsar.

Quite impressed with this town..maybe because of the title itself. So, it look elegant compare to the other area. But, honestly each country should have their own bandar diraja town.

Have a quick round tour of bandar di raja where located a few interesting building such as Masjid Ubudiah-Istana Kenangan-Istana Iskandariah-etc.

Then, went to the Medan Selera Sungai perak to have our 'tea' time..heheh
Kuala Kangsar-must try laksa buyong and cendol.

Cameron Highland

Date : 23Nov 2011
Day 2

Second day at Cameron.Wake up early and went out at 9am.
Breakfast-sandwich..see no worries when travel with family.
It's Mardi agro farm and have few interesting area from rabbit farm-tea factory-green house (flowers and vegetables)-rose farm-herbs farm-etc.
I bought flowers! It's daisy and I dont know how long that it can stand with me..hopefully long enough..
Btw,Mom and faritz also bought flowers.

Then..check out from the apartment at 12pm.
Drove along the way and just stopped at any market that we want to stop.
In short..all looks same to me.

Cameron Highland

Me and my family having a holiday
the inital plan is to road tour of perak
but mom n dad may not very strong to have that kind of tour
so we end up just go wherever that we fill okay
just relax n have a go

so the first destination-Cameron Highland
From Bagan Serai to cameron,it tooks nearly 2 hours journey
We stayed inside Mardi area with RM100 per nite for one apartment
3 room with queen bed all the room
thank god we get that beautiful apartment with that rate

So we arrived at Cameron nearly 130 pm.Met my kazen and he bring us to the apartment.
Lunch-bihun goreng-mee goreng-all the home food. That's the best part when travel with family. No worries about food.

At 4pm, we went out and first destination i'm not remembered the shop name.but seems that its the only tea and scone shop up there.

SO yup...tea time.
With hot scone.
With tea plantation view.
My day just....perfect!

Mom choose to have icecream
Faritz choose to have icecream and chocolate
While Zul definitely not the scone man
While abah love tea so much

After have our tea time, we have a quick look at the tea plantation.

Then, mom bought a few boxes of tea here before we continued to the next destination.
Where it be?

Nite market. It open only during weekend but for school holiday, it open every day. What else to expect-stawberry n dip chocolate (I bought 10 cucuk hokay)..vegetables...fruit...well cameron things i suppose.

We bought passion fruit n apple cameron which I think it looks more like cucumber. It's raining and we just have a quick shopping.

And then stop at Tmn Strawberi Pusat Souvenir. Same thing as other places.Lastly, bought our dinner and back to apartment.

N okay..another stories. Abah lock the room door n the key failed to open back the door.We called the service room and it took nearly half an hour to solve.
How it be solved? By hit the door with a hammer....

SAIGON: Day 4: Ben Thanh as Malay Town

Saigon-Final day.

Wake up early and packing my stuff.Put all the kain into my new backpack 75l. Then, continued to city center and Ben Thanh market again. This time, I bought jersey and again ten pieces of japanese cotton from my favourite shop.

Return back to my hotel, took my sista clothes from the tailor and packing again with the new stuff.

At 12pm, check out.Below is the room picture.

Lunch at halal restaurant-beef noodle soup. Its different with the chicken noodle soup that i tried yesterday.Much more flavour for this soup.Met again the Malaysian couple and I ask them to take their printing boarding pass at my hotel.

While having my dinner, a group of Malaysian who just arrived at Saigon came. Chat with them for a while before continued my journey.

So, it's 1230pm and still have much time before I went to the airport.Again, to Ben Thanh market and this time bought crumpler bag.hehe...but chinatown indeed my much cheaper.

As Chinatown every where, I think Malay town should have one too. I dont know whether its our people who like to spend very much at other countries or the sellers themselves good seeing the business opportunities. The market seems like at Dubai or Mecca or perhaps Bangkok where people speak Malay. N the Viatnamese people who sell those fabric cotton-tailor to sew baju kurung and tudung-its not Muslim people.I'm not surprised if in the future they also sell telekung. This trend impact the local people culture as well which I believe AA make a good job. Instead of giving a low and middle income person opportunity to travel, the company also impact to the other countries economic and culture.Saigon is the best example.

So, at 130pm I went to the airport by hotel taxi with the rate 8 dollar. Check in my bag. I'm carried about 20 fabric of japanese cotton and the weight approximately 16 kg.

My flight at 420pm and as usual, AA delayed their flight. Plus it heavy rain out there. At 500 pm, the flight came. Have my premeal boooking via internet-green curry rice with hot milo.
At the seat, AA keep promote to buy their insurance. If the flight came later more than 2 hours, we can redeem fund for that. So, I wonder...AA had this kind of delayed reputation-is it by purpose to market the insurance or just coincidence..hmmm

SAIGON: Day 3: Goodbye sista

Sista's flight at 11am..and before she went back home she took her clothes from Cantik boutique. We were not having a breakfast together because its already late. Only a cup of quaker oat and shared by two people. As she went away, I'm continued my journey alone.

So start with having a breakfast -prawn fried rice at halal restaurant as I not planned to have my lunch. Met again the Malaysian couple and have breakfast with them. We chat and I'm suggest them to have a walk to city center. They agreed and invite me to join them.

They went out first as my food still not coming yet. After having my breakfast, I went out and just explore the area. Until one rickshaw came and show me his 'guest book'. Usually I'm not speaking with these people coz I know they usually trick people to ride their rickshaw. But the guest book really fascinating. It wrote his guest comment for his services. So creative...he differentiate his services with the others by having this value.

He offered to show me an dong market-chinatown area-mosque-mekong river-back to hotel. This distrinct quite far from where I'm currently located. Its dinstrict 5 and I'm districnt 1. I asked for how much and he said 150,000 dong.okay considered cheap and I'm agreed.

So, with the rickshaw, I saw many other places differently from what I saw by cab or walk. You know the road there-motorcycle keep hon to each other and suddenly come from no where. But it's exciting to be there and to feel it...although I'm also close my eyes at certain time.

Au Dong market
People here not really know in English.N not really nice and clean as Ben Thanh. I think if you want to shop for baby clothes, this is the best place. level 2 is full of baby clothes.

Chinatown
This market is the place to buy beg. I bought two bag here with the price much more cheaper than Ban Thanh. But hard to bargain here as the seller here not speaking english. They also not as friendly as people at Ban Thanh. Consider them like at Petaling Street, where we afraid to ask more for cheaper price and then at last we cancel to buy it.

For the bag, basically it is the market of backpack such as Deuter and North Face. For 75+15 l, I can get 19 dollar-the same price for my Crumpler sling bag bought at Ban Thanh.

Mosque
N then finally went to the mosque at Chinatown area. Have this kind of China influence at the building architecture.

Then, I asked the driver to return back to hotel. N he said he want to show me the Mekong river as it is just near there and along the way when return home.

N then...grrr I had to share this. But I believe this is their modus operandi and for you to be careful.

He stop at the middle of no where..n I ask me to write his 'guest book'.i give my good comment about him.N he asked for money first because he can't park his rickshaw at my hotel. Okie that time sounds not logic. he asked for money and I gave him 150,000 dong....as he mention before I'm agreed to accept his services.

N...huhhh

He show me his price catalog which he not show me earlier.150,000 dong is only for one way and not return.N for one hour, it should be 500,000 dong.

Damn...feel like really stupid that time. I always praise this Viatnamese people coz I think they all really kind people and still use the concept of trust. He really make a shame for his own people. After argue for few minutes, and I'm also not dare to be more mad (alone at place I see no taxi)..so I just paid. Few item that I planned to buy-now cancel...due to my stupidity.huh geram lagi...I try to find the positive inside this negative story. I had the chance to ride the rickshaw while I'm actually want to try the motorcycle-went to this two market Au Dang and Chinatown which is really far and bought bag for myself..positif positif...

So,while return back to hotel, he asked me the hotel name and direction. Okay..for those who know me..u know my sense of direction very bad. While I'm also in a bad mood that time, I just make a guess where my hotel is. He said at the right while me at the left.N of course la expected..it wrong. I think he mad at me that time coz I show him the wrong location.Fair enough..

As had being cheated,I do not have mood to went out. I took a hot shower, watched movie and relax.

Went out back at 5pm to Ben Thanh market. My shopping list-Viatnamese coffee for my colleague, keychain and tshirt I love Viatnam to my father.

At nearly 630pm, went back to hotel and lepak at Hajah Basiroh shop. She also sold nasi lemak, nasi ayam and bihun goreng at small stall in front of her shop.See...the menu pun turn out to be Malay menu. While waiting, again met the Malaysian couple and lepak there nearly one hour. There are many others customer coming who majority is Malay-either Indonesian or Brunei. You know exactly from where they come from their languange and veil.Brunei people with the bling bling veil and Indonesian with the owning veil.

So,my dinner-nasi lemak ayam for 60,000 dong aka RM10.

While lepaking with those Malaysian couple, I'm agreed to help them did the web check in.

Tips:
Better to go anywhere by taxi meter rather than motor or rickshaw.Or if you can ride motorcyle, try one.

SAIGON: Day 2: Shopping mission

Saigon: Day 2-15102011

Morning

Wake up at 830 am and start our day with breakfast at halal restaurant. Ate chicken noodle soup with viatnamese coffee.

Then, continue our day with shopping mission at Ben Thanh market. The market open from 7am till 7pm. When i said it closed at 7pm...then yes it is. They have a gate and close the market at 7pm. Although there still have customers in the market, those sellers already packed their stuff and closed their shop.

So,at Ben Thanh market we can found item from keychain-fridge magnet-tshirts-telekung-cotton fabric from english cotton, silk cotton, japanese cotton, italy cotton,etc-shoes-bag. I bought a lot pieces of cotton here.

People here knew English very well. Not just English, they knew Malay languange as well.Once you enter to the market, we can heard the sellers call us. Few of them react more active by hold your hand and ask you to stop and look at their item. But it just few of them knew Malay languange very well. They saw the opportunities that Malay-Indonesian-Brunei love to shopping and they learn Malay languange to get more customers. True..I'm prefer to go to the shop knew Malay languange-easier to bargain.

The shop here also use USD as their sale and purchase transaction.I'm make a mistake here coz I bring more dong than usd. But for the supermarket and restaurant, they use dong compared to usd.

Afternoon
We back to ur hotel at 1230 pm and it was too hot. For lunch, we have this coconut ice at 40,000 dong and lotus seeds for 40,000 dong. It's expensive..should can get much more cheaper.Maybe 15,000 dong like that.

Sista bring her cotton fabric to the Cantik boutique which is in front our hotel. The price is like 16 dollar. N then while waiting for her, I move to the next shop.Bought another blouse here for 10 dollar.Sista came and asked for the tailor-its 7 dollar for one baju kurung. So, she change her mind and send her kain here.

We then continued our journey and went to the city center. It just walk straight from Ben Thanh market. We enter to the small shop along the road and to the supermarket as well. I bought my jeans here while sista shop a lot here.

Here, there is a mosque at Dong Du Street which is just behind Sheraton Hotel. Another halal food restaurant name Four Season also located there. Same restaurant as at our hotel-its family business.Another attraction -opera house.

Instead of that, you can found Tourist Information Center here which can provide you free map and booking services.

Nite
Before we went back to hotel, we have our dinner. This time ate chap choy and beef hot plate.

Then, after few hours relax at hotel, again we went out to the nite market.
Again, sista bought belt here for 5 dollar.Me not buy anything.

I'm interested to buy jersey and think that the quality is much more better than the one that I got from Thailand. Jersey here dumped from Singapore and the price very cheap.

Before back to hotel, we lepak with other malaysian at Hajah Basiroh shop. This shop turn to be our Malaysian kedai kopi. Place to lepak with other Malaysian. We bought popia goreng as we ate yesterday. But not really nice this time.

Tips:
01. For business purpose, better use USD than dong. Shop here already set the prices in USD.So USD to dong..we may loss few ringgit for the conversion.
02. Tourist Information Center to book various fascinating trip at Saigon such as Chu chi tunnel, Mekong Delta, water puppet show, etc.
